Personal Protection (PIP)

No- fault Insurance

Personal injury protection is also known as a no-fault insurance which covers health expenses associated with an accident. With PIP if you're at fault or not the insurance will cover you.

PIP covers both injured policyholders and passengers as well even if they do not have health insurance. In the state of Florida you are required to be insured with PIP and PDL at the time of vehicle registration. A minimum of $10,000 is available to use wether for medical bills or to cover lost wages.

Using Your PIP

Filing for PIP

Step 1 Reach out to your insurance company and begin your claim submission.

Step 2 Detailed collection with proof of losses and medical bills obtained after accident. For example, evidence of lost wages and income or invoices related to your injuries.

Step 3 Educate yourself if your PIP insurance does not cover all costs associated with the accident and injury.

Health Insurance and PIP

Which goes first?

In the state of Florida, PIP coverage comes before any other health insurance you might also have. Any accident related expense you are faced with is covered with PIP before being billed to your health insurance. Once you do exhaust all available PIP you can then begin to use your health insurance for the remaining costs.

Once we begin going through health insurance we can expect a deductible and copayment depending on the plan you chose.
